Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Switch Review

This is by far one of the best Star Wars games out there, and one could argue best RPG out there as well. I will tell you about the different planets, some of your party members, and the weapons I like to use. I will not talk about spoilers in the game cause when some of them happen they are kind of big, at least to me.

First off I need to state this is a port of the PC game like all of their other ports, Aspyr. This handles very well and at least for the first game, which we are talking about only, it runs smoothly and doesn’t have any major bugs. I ran into two types of bugs. First one seemed to be a memory leak the longer you played cause it would make the game crash, this isn’t a big deal as long as you follow the golden rule of RPG games save a lot! Second one wasn’t until I went to a planet called Korriban. This bug can be annoying if you don’t keep multiple saves like me, luckily I had my auto save right before I went and had the bug to trigger. The actual bug is when you enter a room in the final crypt on the planet and it has 3 pillars. I couldn’t do the puzzle cause the computer wouldn’t give me the option. So I just reloaded the save. One good work around for this is a mix of my advice for the first bug, save a lot and have 2 or 3 save files you rotate between.

Now which planets can you hope to see in this game? First one is Talus, I can’t stand this planet and is why I don’t really want to stream this by myself, its boring to me. Next one is Dantooine, this one is cool is a planet that mainly has plains of grass. This planet is where you get to become a person of importance, that is all I will say. The next bit I am not going to describe but will just name them off: Tatooine, Kashyyyk, Manaan, Korriban, and one more that doesn’t have a name. There are some other cool interior maps as well.

Then you have party members. This is where the game shines, there are quest, dialog, and just random bs between different characters in your party depending on who you have out. You have a mix of lightside and darkside party members. What does lightside and darkside mean? Well it just says what type of person that character is, are they a murder or a person that helps others out.

Finally the weapons, gear, and abilities. I have some pictures of each of these that I picked. I don’t think I have the best build but my build worked for me and can be tweaked a bit to work better, which I plan on doing on my next playthrough.

The way my character is built is based on I want to hit stuff hard and not stop moving. What this means is I have a double-bladed saber, robes that buff my Wisdom, and 3 Force Powers I buff myself with before a fight. My feats for non Jedi help me with duel wielding weapons, and doing multiple attacks at once on one target. My Force Powers help me defend against attacks, move fast, and heal. The moving fast is a key feature of the way my combat works. After I am buffed with my three buffs, I use Master Force Speed and run in at a target, once close enough I use Master Furry and attack twice and the target is most of the time dead.

Everything you see in my images are from the very end of the game, right before the final boss. In all I really enjoyed this port. If you can get this on Switch I would suggest it. I like what Aspyr had done with each of the games they port over. I do have to take back my Jedi Outcast remarks cause that game has a big blinders on me and I was upset. That game is fun to play just as much as Academy. If you cant play this game on Switch, then you can get it on PC and OG Xbox. One thing I forgot to mention is the DLC is in this game and I was Stoked to find it. If you enjoyed reading my first review in a while please share this around and let me know what is your classes that you like to play as.
